They get their name because they are often associated with sponges,
which they cut with their claws.
With their last pair of legs, they hold on to sponges, sea squirts, shells etc. for camouflage.
They are found in coral and rock reefs, but also on shallow sandy bottoms.
Usually hidden during the day, foraging at night.
