some, as seen in the photo, live on coral reefs under rocks and stones.

Maximum size: 3 - 6.6 cm

Most of the mitra species live on sandy substrates or burrow into mud and sand.

Some live on coral reefs under rocks or stones.

They eat various small animals such as worms and molluscs.

It is broadly spindle-shaped with a high, purple tip.

Their shell contains eight coils, the seam is pressed on, usually white,

with black or dark brown spiral bands, but the base color can also be cream or orange.

 Maximum size: 25 mm

Maximum depth: 20 - 90 m

The shell is pointed and egg-shaped.

The spire is ribbed lengthwise.

The ribs are narrow, flat, rather close-fitting, slightly granular towards the base

and impressively striped across.

The carapace is orange-yellow and decorated with a purple band

in the spaces between the ribs.

The columella is fivefold braided.
