Introduction


 This family is characterized by trochospiral right-wound shells.

The adult size ranges from about 5 mm to 130 mm.

An inner layer of permutation is deposited in the shell.

The gyre snails are a large family of sea-dwelling snails.

Maximum 8 cm

Its shell is often encrusted with red algae and invertebrates.

The cream-colored mantle becomes visible at night

when it grazes algae from hard bottoms.
