They generally form net-like, upright colonies.

It consists of a white or pink coral-like skeleton of branched,

vertically arranged, perforated leaves that extend from a single attachment point.

They are found in relatively sheltered waters, clinging to stones and rocks.

Skeletons can also be found on the beach.
